Inclement Weather Policy
Day Cancellations
No cancellations.
Evening Cancellations
No cancellations.
As a general rule, Daniel Webster College does not close
because of inclement weather. However, each forecast is
evaluated to determine if a delay or closure is
warranted. Should it be necessary to delay or close, this
decision will be made by 6:00 a.m. and will be
communicated to the DWC community in the following
ways:
- An email message will be distributed to College
addressees
(day students only)
- A message will be placed on the College’s
information line, 603-577-6200 extension 4599
- We will transmit this information to WMUR-TV Channel
9 (Manchester)
- We will also transmit this information for broadcast
on

Please be aware that the College has no control over
the time these stations may take to include the
College’s announcement in their system. The College
also has no control over the exact wording these
media outlets may use. Since the College does not
normally discriminate between classes and
operations, an announcement that classes are delayed
also means that offices will also delay opening
until the specified time.
Weather delays and closures do not affect personnel
essential to the well-being of the resident student
community. If you have questions about your status,
please consult your supervisor
Students should note that a delay cancels classes
during the delay period. For example, if the College
delays to (opens at) 10 am, classes that begin
before 10 am are cancelled.
If deteriorating weather
conditions put evening classes in doubt, this
decision will be made no later than 3 p.m., with
every effort made to do so earlier. Unless
otherwise noted, delay or closure decisions affect
both Nashua and Portsmouth.
Note, because the timing
of the implementation of evening cancellations can
vary, such decisions also affect the evening hours
of support offices such as the Library. Please be
alert to e-mail messages from these offices.
All members of the community should note that the
normal opening business hour is 8:30 a.m. Thus a
90-minute delay indicates that offices will open at
10 am, while a two hour delay indicates that offices
will open at 10:30 am
Remember, no one should place their personal safety
at risk. However, if you elect not to travel when
the College remains open, you must notify your
instructor or supervisor. Faculty must notify the
Vice President for Academic Affairs or Dean of
Graduate and Continuing Studies, as appropriate.
Staff must notify the appropriate supervisor. Under
such circumstances, because the College remains
open, employees who do not report are expected to
use personal time or vacation.
